Where to get help with debt consolidation

Getting help with debt consolidation is as easy as picking up the phone. Your local yellow pages is probably the best resource for getting help with debt consolidation. There is likely to be hundreds or even thousands of debt consolidation experts in your area. All you need to do is pick up the phone and call a few of them.

Honestly explaining your situation will help these people help you. Tell them what you can afford to pay each month, how much you owe and to who, and that you're afraid declaring bankruptcy is the only way to get out of debt. Chances are, they'll be able to help you, and show you how your debts can be paid off without going bankrupt, but rather making good on your word to pay the debt off.

When debt consolidation isn't the answer for you

Depending on the amount of debt you are experiencing, and who the creditors are, debt consolidation may not be an option for you. Mot of the time, debt consolidation is an option, but be prepared for a financial advisor to tell you that bankruptcy is the best option for you. And, remember that bankruptcy isn't the end of the world, it's a second chance. Just try to do things differently your second time around. The only way to change the future is to proceed differently than you did in the past.
