Choosing a Student Credit Card
Choosing a student credit card can be frustrating and confusing. You may not know what terms like APR and grace period are. The more you research the more you will learn. It might seem impossible at first to find a good student credit card, but it isn't! You can apply for a student credit card whenever you want! Knowing your resources will greatly improve your chances of getting a credit card that will help you build your credit, and is affordable!
There are a lot and I mean hundreds, of credit card companies that will try to offer you their credit cards! But, beware. Usually these types of credit cards are meant for people that already have established credit. Choosing one of these cards could mean your future failure with handling credit.
Right now there are three cards that seem to be the best offer for college and university students; Chase, Citi, and Discover. Chase offers the Chase Platinum For Students, Citi offers the Citi Platinum for Students, and Discover offers the Discover Student Credit Card. All three of these offer vary a bit from card to card, but they are proving to be the best choice for all types of students.
All of the student credit cards listed in this report require that you are at least 18 years of age and are enrolled in a 4 year accredited university, college, or trade school.
Chase Platinum Student Credit Card
This is a great student credit card! This company is definitely "college student friendly". Chase has specifically designed a credit card for students that are enrolled in a 4 year degree program. Some of the benefits of this card are no annual fees, low introductory annual percentage rates (APR), online account access, and $0 liability for fraudulent purchases. Chase has devoted several pages and links in their website specifically for students.
In this student section you can find tips for creating a budget, a credit glossary of terms,information about credit reports, and much more! The Chase Student Platinum also offers reward points that you can redeem at your favorite stores like Old Navy and GAP.
