Coming to Terms with Your Credit Report (cont.)

Contributed by Boo Roberts

When I was finally done, and the pieces of my plastic past relegated to the trash, I could commence the next phase. Phase two of cleaning up my credit report was: writing letters to all of those credit card companies and requesting they cancel my accounts. This took me a long time, but when I was finished, I had a neat stack of fifteen letters ready to be sent with the morning mail.

Now would come the difficult part, Phase Three, more commonly known as "No You Can't Get Those Beautiful Pumps". I had a really tough time with phase three, I loved to shop and rewarded anything I accomplished with a trip to a favorite store. Got up half an hour early to be at work on time? Well, go to the store and buy some earrings to celebrate. Submitted a tough project on time (after procrastinating for most of the two weeks)?

Treat myself to a day of beauty, including a body wrap and aromatherapy. Eventually, I found what worked best was not spending as much time near stores and getting outside in the fresh air. And when a year had passed and I pulled my own credit report, guess what happened? It looked great! And you know that house I dreamed of? Now it's mine. If I can do it, anyone can come to terms with their credit report.
