Credit Card Debt Management For One and All

Some people may not want to hear about credit card debt management. By listening they may have to admit to themselves that they have a problem. It's been said that credit cards are like drugs - what an amazing analogy! Why? They offer short term pleasure with long term pain - how true! Not to mention, credit cards give you the illusion that you have more money at your disposal than you really do.

They are there lurking in your wallet or purse, teasing you with that new TV or new pair of shoes, taunting you to spend money that you really don't have. Step away from the credit card! By using that credit card now, you are forcing yourself to live on less money monthly just to pay off past credit card debt.

In today's society there is so much emphasis put on obtaining credit and using credit, but not nearly enough on managing your debt once you've used up your credit. Credit card debt management should be a course taught to our children starting late in high school - before the kids are sent off to college. Many of the Americans in debt today, got that way as early as their first year in college simply because they weren't taught the pros and cons of credit.

Credit Card Debt Management For College Students

As mentioned above, many Americans are first introduced to credit cards when they start college. Credit card companies send representatives to college campuses all over the country to lure unsuspecting college students into their web of credit. They use great bait - free CDs and T-shirts - to get the students to sign up for their credit card. Once the application is complete - they've got you.

These representatives will paint a glorious picture of how the new card can be used to order unlimited nights of pizza or to pay for their spring break trip. What they should be teaching instead is responsible spending.
