Credit Card Debt Will Haunt You (cont.)

Contributed by Julia Reese

We do not have much more funds available than last month. This time it is really starting to sink in. How did we get ourselves into such credit card debt? We have seen the commercials for credit counselors advertising to help those plagued with credit card debt and we guffawed at them, thinking we would never be naive enough to get ourselves into a situation of that nature. But now we are starting to wonder.

Is there a way out of Credit Card Debt?

Thankfully, yes, there is a way out of credit card debt. But you have to be willing to make sacrifices to get there. As a rule, you should always pay your bills before splurging for unnecessary items so that way more funds are available to apply toward credit card statements. Do your best to pay more than the minimum payment. But if that is absolutely all you can spare, then by all means, at least make the minimum payment because not doing at least that can seriously affect your credit report.

But overall, the best method is to try not to get in the position of being saddled with heavy debt. If you really want something, save up for it, even if it is only little increments of money at a time. The mentality of "buy now pay it later" is another way of saying "don't worry about it now, but there will be much worrying over it later."
