Not all credit cards are created equal. When you make the decision to get a credit card you should do some research and find out what card is right for you.
Obviously, you need to consider what type of credit card you'd qualify for before deciding what you want. If you have bad credit, you won't qualify for all credit cards. Be honest with yourself about this, because it doesn't matter what your credit is like, you are still eligible for one card or another. Once you determine what your limitations or liabilities are, you can continue the hunt for the card that is right for you!
If you'll be getting a credit card for every day use, then a card that requires a minimum daily balance isn't an issue. But, if you are looking for a credit card to slip into your wallet for an emergency, then you probably don't want a card that has a minimum daily balance.
Think about what you'll buy with your credit card, if you can get a credit card that enhances your buying habits in any way, those are the cards you should look into. For example, if you frequently purchase plane tickets with your credit card, you should shop for a card that will earn you air miles!
When you're choosing a card you need to be very thoughtful about how each particular card matches with your credit needs.
Now that you know what your credit limitations may be, and you've also defined what you'll be using your credit card for, the search is on! Remember, there probably isn't a perfect card, but if you choose wisely you can get pretty darn close!
Your personal bank may be a great starting place on the hunt for a credit card. Many banks offer their customers a whole range of credit cards, dependent upon their needs. Give your bank a call and see if they offer more than just a check card.
