During the rush of spending on desirable items, no one is thinking about the management of those incurred debts in the future. Why "step on the buzz? " But just like stepping on the scale after holiday feasting, looking at those monthly minimums on your credit card statements can be as horrifying as it is humbling. And just as you can cut the fat from your diet -- and hopefully your midsection -- you can cut the fat from your spending habits and in time, from your credit card balances.
In contrast to the ascension culture, there is another school of thought about the virtues of descent. We all start out with great and lofty plans for our futures. Some of those plans are feasible through natural gifts and hard work, and some may have to be discarded as unattainable. Discarded goals do not a failure make, though much of modern Western culture would have us think so. This is a convenient fiction, not an inescapable truth, as is the necessity of paying your bills.
So, in coming to grips with your own need for debt management, consider how secure you'll feel with your feet planted firmly on the ground.
