If you are a college student thinking about getting a credit card, you must understand all the terms and conditions of the credit card you choose. Getting a credit card is a big responsibility. It is probably better for you to get more hours at work if you are employed than to apply for a credit card. There are benefits to having a credit card. You can begin to build credit, and learn how to properly use a credit card.
If you got a credit card in college and are now it debt because of it, you should contact your credit card company right away. Do not stop paying your bill. If you cannot afford your monthly premium you can ask for a reduced payment plan until you have gained better ground with your money. If you stop paying your credit card bill your interest rates will inflate, and you will incur costly late fees and penalty charges. Debt management includes taking proper care of all of your credit accounts, whether it is a student loan or a credit card.
Proper debt management will help you build good credit and gain an outstanding credit score. The first step you should take is to obtain a copy of your credit report. Once you have a copy of your credit report you will be able to see all of your lenders. If there is a mistake in your credit report dispute it immediately.
