If your application is rejected when you apply for a credit card merchant account, try applying to one more credit institution before you give up. If your second attempt fails, you can reapply later when your credit has improved. Your business may simply be too young to have established enough credit to be accepted as a merchant account. Other forms of credit can be much easier for a business to obtain, such as a credit card that is used only for business expenses.
Try to get a credit card for this purpose, and use it. If you make your payments on time each month and establish good credit, wait a year until you can show a good payment history and your business is a little older, and the chances are very good that your next application will be accepted.
If you decide that your business would benefit by being able to accept credit cards from your customers, do some research before you apply. Credit card merchant banks can vary greatly in the fees that they charge to businesses. When your application is accepted, read carefully all the information that you'll receive about what you need to do to become a successful credit card merchant.
