With identity theft and credit card fraud, today more than ever it's important to take care of your credit and finances and you can do this with a free credit report from Equifax.
Americans on a whole, carry $1 trillion dollars in credit card debt. As astonishing as that number is - $2 to $3 billion of that debt is from credit card fraud and identity theft. While most of the time, consumers are protected against having to pay the actual amount of fraudulent charges, we all pay the price with higher interest rates and fees.
Anyone, anywhere can be a victim of credit card fraud and/or identity theft. Keeping this in mind, it's important to keep an ever watchful eye on your credit report. A free credit report from Equifax will contain information on any accounts you didn't open. You'll also want to keep an eye on your credit card statements and watch out for strange charges that show up on your credit card statements, bills that arrive from unknown credit card companies and if you are getting calls from creditors or collection agencies.
Basically, your credit report, either from Equifax or one of the other two credit bureaus, will contain your financial behavior as well as your personal identification information.
By law, none of the credit bureaus can report medical conditions, physical, mental or behavioral. However, if you have any type of a payment plan with a treatment center, it may show up in your credit report as what type of center.
Also on your credit report will be any public information. If you're behind on your child support payments, if you've filed bankruptcy within the last seven to ten years or if you have unpaid tax liens from the past seven to ten years, it will show up.
