Factors to Consider in Deciding Whether to Write a Letter to Repair Your Credit (cont.)

You'll want to include copies of any information that support your claim with your letter. Send the whole package by certified mail with a receipt request. This way you know that the credit bureau did indeed receive your letter.

By law, once the credit bureau receives your letter, they are required to investigate your claim and report their findings back to you within thirty days. If the credit bureau cannot verify the information, it must notify the other credit bureaus and the information must be removed or corrected.

Don't expect this to all be taken care of with a snap of the fingers. Repairing your credit in this manner takes a lot of time and patience - without it you'll feel like you're beating your head against the wall.

I Don't Know How To Write Anything, Let Alone A Letter to try to Repair my Credit!

Relax! If writing is not your strong point, never fear! There are actually companies out there who will sell you templates of credit repair letters. You can buy these letters and then simply plug in the information that you want to include.

However, some of these templates may charge you a premium for these letters. I'm sure that you can write your own letter and save yourself the money.
