The Eastern states include Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia. Also, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and all other U.S. territories can obtain their free credit report beginning September 1, 2005.
How to order your free credit report
The three credit reporting agencies have gotten together and formed one central website, toll free number, and physical address where you can order your free credit report. You can obtain your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.co. You can also visit the website to obtain the toll free number or mailing address if you'd rather do it in that manner.
When you request your free credit report you will need your full name, address, social security number, and date of birth. If you have recently moved, you may need the addresses for the last two years. For security purposes, you may be asked for information only you would know such as the amount of your monthly car or mortgage payment.
Take advantage of this new program, and get all three of your credit reports once a year to be sure that there are no inaccuracies being reported! Protect your buying power by knowing what is on your credit report!
