Every now and then certain credit companies offer a free credit report. As long as you aren't required to purchase anything or apply for any loans, you should take advantage of a free credit report offer. Your credit report is yours, and you should be able to have free access to it!
The internet is an awesome resource for obtaining a free credit report. You can search with your web browser and find and endless supply of sites that offer a free credit report. Whatever site you choose, be sure to read the fine print. You want to be wary of programs that pull your credit report one or twice a month, and programs which require you to apply for loans you don't need, or buy financial products that you don't require.
If you get enrolled in a program that constantly checks or "pulls" your credit report, it will actually affect your credit in a negative way. Every time your credit is checked it impacts your credit ranking! You only want your credit report accessed when you need it to be, and you want your current report to stay intact, not get lower and lower. A program that pulls your credit report once or twice a year isn't a bad idea at all, because you should be aware of what is on your credit report. Many people have delinquencies reported that are incorrect and could easily be removed.
