Free debt management advice is few and far between- everybody wants something from you. Financial planners are almost always on commission- you see commercials on television offering a way out of debt- your ex's prior spending habits are still on your credit cards, and your kids need new shoes for baseball coming up. Just what are you supposed to do?
Well, my friends, I have this free advice for you. NOBODY works for free. In fact, I'm getting paid to write this article, so what does that tell you. I just figured that i'm getting paid to write this, I might as well write about a topic that can help out some other single parents out there.
The truth is, nobody. If you call a bank that you don't have an account at, they probably won't help you out unless you have an account there, unless they are hoping that if they are nice and helpful to you, you will open an account at their bank and help them make their quota for new accounts this month.
However, I can share with you my own experiences. One big caveat would be the debt management services which you see on television all of the time. Although these services do exactly what they promise- help reduce or eliminate your interest on your credit cards and putting it into one smaller, more affordable payment for you, there are some severe consequences involved with doing this.
