It has been proven in several studies by the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Highway Safety that new and teenage drivers tend to focus their eyes on two spots while driving, and neither of them is the gas gauge. Teenagers and new drivers tend to watch the car in front of them and check the speedometer only, ignoring mirrors, traffic on either side of the vehicle, and sometimes objects or pedestrians.
Now that we know most teenagers never check the gas gauge, then maybe a gas credit card will help them when they run out of gas. Remember how they called you for money, or to pick them up because they are ran out of gas? Now you can keep a gas credit card in the car they drive, or give them their own card to ensure if they need or run out of gas they can handle to problem without you. A gas credit card may also help your teenager learn money responsibilities and how to create a successful budget.
When using a gas credit card it is important to know how the card works. Most gas cards work on a debit system where you add money to the account and then refresh it when it is depleted. Never put more money on a gas credit card than you can afford or need immediately. Usually once the money is on the card it remains there until you spend it.
