Getting a gas credit card for your teenaged driver may be a great way to cut costs in your budget. Have you ever handed your 17 or 18 year old $20 for gas but still found the tank empty in the morning? A gas credit card could be a great way to make sure that your teenager spends the money on gas. Other times a gas credit card could be a lifesaver. Has your inexperienced teenager ever forgotten to check the gas gauge and run out of gas and then called you for money? A gas credit card could solve some of these and other problems.
Remember that $20 you gave to your teenaged son or daughter, what if you had a way to make sure they would spend it on gas only? Well, you do. Most gas stations and some credit card companies offer gas credit cards that you can debit money from for gas purchases. Once the money is credited to the gas card, it can only be used specifically for gas purchases. Shell, Citgo, Mobil, and Hess are some of the gas companies that offer gas credit cards.
Getting one is easy and ensures that your teen will not spend the $20 on a video game or pizza with friends. Getting them to fill the tank may be another story....
Have you ever gone out to pick up a few things, not checked the gas meter, and run out of gas. It is not unusual for people to run out of gas near their home or even a gas station because they failed to notice their gauge. Teenaged drivers also tend to never notice the gas gauge either.
