If you aren't yet eligible for your free credit report from the federal government program, and you don't meet any of the criteria that would also qualify you for a credit report, you still don't have to pay for one! There are many programs on the internet that offer a free credit report to consumers. Usually the report is just from one reporting agency, but this will give you a good idea of what is going on with your credit. And, you could always find three programs, and end up with all three of your credit reports.
There are over seventeen million websites on the internet that offer a free credit report, you just need to find the one that is right for you. Many of them will require you to subscribe to certain financial or credit programs. If it's not something you are truly interested in, don't bother if you can buy your credit report for the same amount or less. There are websites who offer free reports with no catch, you may just have to dig a little bit!
If you can wait, you might as well get your credit report when you are eligible through the federal program. This is a great opportunity to keep a yearly tab on your credit report!
