How to Not Be the Victim of a Credit Card Scam (cont.)

Contributed by Kristy George

Credit Card Receipts

Do you ever think twice about handing your credit card to a sales person whether it be at a department store or gas station? It is a very common thing to do and not think twice about. But while you are tending to screaming kids or looking over your check book, the sales clerk could be writing down your credit card information. Even though this is a scary thought, it does happen. The new trend of having pay at the pump options at gas stations will help protect you against such fraud. Be sure to get your receipt that prints before driving off.

Paying Online with Credit Cards

Even though some people are hesitant about paying online with their credit card, it is safer than most other times you pay with your credit card. Most sites have secure websites and most hackers are not trying to get your number. Hackers try to hack a system for the thrill and accomplishment rather than to retrieve your credit card number. In today's world with new encryption technology most hackers will find a dead end if they do attempt to hack a site for your credit card number. Always be cautious and there is no such thing as too cautious when it comes to your credit.
