-Research your e-merchants. Many sites provide feedback comments from other buyers. Did they have problems with the seller? If the site you are shopping at is not well known, you can get a rating from a site like bizrate.com or another consumer rating service.
-Don't use more than one credit card for online purchases. If there should ever be any fraud, it will be much easier to manage the problem if you are only dealing with one card.
-Always print out or store confirmation records when you make an online purchase. Having these records on hand will be useful if there is ever any questions regarding your purchase.
You may want to consider getting an internet friendly credit card that will protect you should there be any losses as a result of fraud. Some cards only offer to cover a percentage of losses, or up to a specified dollar amount. A credit card that is geared specifically toward internet buyers may be your best option if you are considering making a habit out of buying online.
