You should keep any copy you have of your credit card number in a safe place. If someone knows about credit cards they know has a 16 digit number, so if you have yours written down and leave it out for anyone to see it wouldn't be difficult for them to figure out what the numbers are for. You should always protect your personal information and not leave it laying around in places outside of your home.
The way things work now it is not only easy it is common to make purchase online and over the phone using only a credit card number. If you write down your credit card number and leave it on your desk at work or another area where people you don't know will see it is possible someone might use it without your permission. Protect your credit and protect yourself and leave your credit card number and other important personal information in a safe place.
