The very first actual credit card I owned was a chase credit card. This is not to say I didn't have other credit cards; I had numerous department store charge cards. But, my chase credit card was my very first bank charge card. It had a shimmery hologram on the front and I thought it looked very cool. It certainly worked well. I used it for many things I needed, and probably some things I didn't need too. I got my chase credit card by filling out an application at the campus center at my college.
I think the free gift was a bag of candy. Or wait, maybe the free gift was a towel; I think the bag of candy was JC Penney that time. Anyhow, motivated by a free gift of any kind, I completed the application and awaited my charge card freedom. I was not disappointed. Within a week, I had my new chase credit card in hand and visited the neighboring mall.
Upon visiting that hallowed establishment, I quickly sallied forth with my new chase credit card. My first stop? A clothing store, of course. Nothing was left out in my first shopping experience with my new credit card. I tried on numerous pairs of jeans, glittering shirts, plain t-shirts, button down blouses, and even some tank tops (although it was winter, you never knew when you would need to whip out a tank; the heat was kept really high in our dormitories).
Once I decided on apparel, I naturally needed items to wear with it: shoes, socks, purses, and jewelry. You would think I had absolutely nothing to wear and had walked into the store naked. That was not the case by the time I departed that store.
