Need Help with Your Credit Card Debt? You Do Have Some Options (cont.)

Contributed by Stephanie Litaker

Cut the extra calories out of your budget and save yourself of credit card debt

Now that you have your list, go back through and cut out the extra stuff that you don't absolutely need to spend money on. You can still leave yourself a few extra dollars to have the occasional treat, but you don't need to treat yourself on a daily basis.

By cutting out the extra expenses, you will free up some additional funds to put toward reducing your credit card debt. Even if you only find that you have an extra $50 each month, that will greatly help your cause. Begin putting that newfound money toward your credit card with the lowest balance, in addition to the normal amount you send in each month.

Now, after that first card has been paid off, use the full amount that you used to pay on that card plus the normal amount you would pay on the second credit card to pay off the second card. By doing this, you will essentially be making two payments on that one card every month. Keep doing this until all of your credit cards are paid off, and before you know it, you'll be out of credit card debt.
