If you feel like you are sinking quickly in your credit card debt, there are ways to get away from that feeling. When you first realize that you are in over your head with your credit card debt, you will probably want to bury your head in the sand and just hope it all goes away. Well, unfortunately it's not like when you were a kid and could hide under the bed until the thunderstorm goes away.
Credit card debt is not a thunderstorm, a monster in the closet or any of the other imaginary creatures you used to hide from. Although it is scary, it also is real. You can't hide from your credit card debt, but you can come up with a plan to beat it at it's own game and get yourself out of credit card debt for good.
Now that you've realized you can't hide under the bed from your credit card debt, you need to begin focusing on exactly how you're going to get out of debt. So come out from under that bed and grab your pencils.
Begin your credit card debt reduction plan by creating a list of all the things you spend your money on every month. Everything from the tube of toothpaste to the cat litter. Make sure you include expenses like gas for the car, dance classes for the kids, the bi-weekly manicure you treat yourself to, and don't forget the guy's night out that you have to finance as well. All of these expenses individually may seem small, but chances are when you add them all up, you will quickly find that you are spending a lot more than you should.
