If you get a credit card with instant approval the card is activated when you are approved and accept it. There is nothing different about a credit card that has instant approval than a credit card you secure through the bank or through the mail. The only difference is that it is one you can apply for online and you don't have to wait for approval. When you are approved and have the card activated you are good to go and start charging with it.
