The three largest credit bureaus in the United States are Experian, Trans Union and Equifax. Each of them maintains a credit file on you, divided into the following sections: personal profile, credit summary, public records, credit inquiries, account history and an overall credit score. It is possible to obtain a credit report free of charge if you have been the victim of fraud or if you have recently been denied credit.
