The debt consolidation service you select should answer your questions and put little pressure on you to choose a plan immediately. If you are speaking with a representative who is not interested in listening to your issues with debt, or one who pushes a debt management program on you within minutes, they are only looking for commissions or fees.
If you want to know how dedicated and honest the company is, ask them how long it will be until you can expect a solution. If they promise a quick-fix solution, look elsewhere. While a debt consolidation program will achieve results in a timely manner, it will not be quick.
Credit counseling should not mean that you have to pay hundreds of dollars per month, nor should you have to pay large fees to begin the service. If the company promises to return any large fees you initially pay them at the end of the program, look elsewhere. You have better things to do with your money other than losing it to a fraudulent company.
