With credit reports n hand, highlight any errors found. Errors can be as simple as a misspelled address, or as in depth as a bankruptcy.
Credit reports are based on your social security number, so you have to realize that errors will occur. Someone could type in a social security number only one digit off, and their foreclosure is on your report. So make sure that you check them very carefully. The reports can vary from one bureau to another. Don't think that just because one report is accurate, the others will be as well.
All disputes must be submitted in writing, whether via internet or mail. With errors clearly marked on your report, follow the guidelines on the websites of the bureau of choice. You may have to enter different disputes individually, or all on one page depending on the bureau. After completing this, the bureau then submits your disputes to the creditors and others . The creditors now have ten days to prove that the dispute is true or remove it from the report.
When all is said and done, the bureau will send you a copy of you new error-free credit report. Hopefully, your dream home hasn't been sold!
