Treating Your Customers Right, the Business Credit Card

Contributed by Boo Roberts

What is a business credit card?

A business credit card is a credit card you can use for your business, either your home-based business or the job you do outside the home. If you work for a large corporation, chances are they will automatically give you a business credit card. If you work for a very small company, chances are you will use your own credit card and get reimbursed in expense checks.

The better way is, of course, to have a business credit card and have the bills go to the corporate office, so you need not worry about getting your expenses submitted in a timely manner, waiting for your expense checks, depositing your expense checks, and then writing a check to your credit card. Cutting out that part of it makes using a business credit card a whole lot easier.

When can you use a business credit card?

You can use a business credit card pretty much whenever you have any expenses related to work. If you are in sales and trying to woo potential customers, you would take them out to dinner at a nice restaurant and order some really good wine. If you were a computer technician and in charge of all the computers and computer networks in your office, you would order all sorts of computer supplies and cables and use your business credit card.

If you were a secretary, you would be using your credit card (or your boss's) for office supplies like staplers, pens, wipey boards, wipey pens, post-it notes, legal pads, etc. If you had your own salon, you would use your credit card for shampoos, conditioners, hair dryers, sinks, towels, a washer and dryer.
