So You Want Information on Debt Management, but You're a Stay-at-Home Mom? (cont.)

Contributed by Stephanie Litaker

The next step in your debt management program as a stay-at-home mom

Now that you have your list of monthly expenses, make sure you have included all of your monthly income sources - remember, income is a necessity for a debt management program. If you have a part-time job, such as an at-home party job (such as Tupperware, Pampered Chef, or Home Interiors) remember to include this money in the "pot." Also, if you have the occasion to make a few extra dollars by watching the neighborhood kids after school or anything else, that money should go in the pot too.

Look at your list of expenses and incomes and figure out what expenditures could be eliminated as a way to help in your debt management program. Chances are you are spending money on something every month that you don't even think about. When you drop the kids off at school in the morning, do you stop for a cup of coffee and a bagel at the local coffee shop? If so, is that something you really need to do? Yes, it's important to treat yourself sometimes, but it's also important for the family that the debt management program works for everyone.
