Where to start when creating a debt management program

When you decide to start a debt management program, you should always begin with taking an inventory of what your household expenses are. Sit down either at your computer or with a piece of paper and a pencil and make a complete list of what you spend money on every month. Don't forget the things like school supplies for the kids, the dry cleaning bills and the pet food. These items (and others) are those things that most of us have to buy, but never actually think about spending money on them.

After you have that list, go back through and make sure you have an accurate estimate of how much you spend on them monthly.
