What's Mine is Mine: Christian Debt Management (cont.)

Christian Debt Management: Movin' On

One way to accept where we are and move on is to put others before ourselves. Whew. That's a hard one. It's a part of the old Golden Rule thing, "do unto others as we would have others do unto us." Sorry, it's not "I will do unto others as they do unto me." Nice try, though. The business world says to get ahead at any cost. But as a Christian, are we to do this at the expense of other people? We need to consider the welfare of others before our own indulgence.

This does not mean we do not provide for ourselves and our families, but that we help as God gives us the capacity to do so. If we are managing our debt and using money as God intended, we can fulfill the plans He has.

Christian Debt Management: Lead Us Not Into Temptation

The need for debt management, Christian based and otherwise, stems from poor decision-making and over-indulgence as well as temptation. We see opportunities and buy on impulse. We allow ourselves to be tempted by "make money while you sleep" plans and real estate gimmicks. We tell ourselves "I NEED" this when it is really a "want." Do not be tempted to make an impulse decision. Allow God to lead you before you make that snap decision. You can avoid the later need for debt management.

God uses money to direct our lives, but we need to be able to see His direction without clouding our minds with, well, greed. Let's look forward to learning "what's mine is not mine."
