Who Offers A Credit Report Service?
There are three major credit bureaus that offer credit report service to consumers, Experian, Equifax and Transunion. They offer credit reports, credit scores and a range of services that allow you to stay up-to-date with both.
New laws are in place that require the three credit bureaus to issue one free copy of your credit report within a twelve-month period. Because there may be different information on all three reports, you should get one from each bureau and compare notes.
With technology on the rise, these credit bureaus will not only issue your credit report, but offer consumers a service that allow them to have complete access to their report 24/7 or have a copy of your credit report sent to your email address. In fact, you can even receive a text message on your cell phone when changes to your credit report take place.
What Credit Report Service Can I Get From The Credit Bureaus?
Each credit bureau offers a different credit report service, but all are quite similar.
Experian offers the Credit Manager, which gives you a free copy of your credit report and a thirty day free trial of Credit Manager that sends you alerts via email when changes, such as new accounts, potentially negative information, address changes or public record items are detected, are posted to your credit report. The Credit Manager service also keeps track of your credit score and allows you access to credit tools.
Equifax offers Credit Watch, which offers secure and instant access to your information online. Due to the rapid increase in credit card fraud and identity theft, this is an important credit service to protect yourself against such crimes. Equifax's Credit Watch can alert you within twenty four hours if someone applies for credit in your name or if there is a change in your credit card balances.
